City of Montreal’s New Animal Care and Control Plan – A Step in the Right Direction

(Montreal – October 18, 2012)  Montreal’s SPCA is pleased by the news that the city of Montreal plans to modernise their animal care and control plan. By building a new facility for animals, harmonising animal regulations across the island, and focussing on animal overpopulation and animal welfare the city has taken an important step to solving Montreal’s animal crisis.

Montreal’s SPCA, the oldest animal welfare organization in Canada, is prepared to work with the City to focus on the issue of overpopulation and to getting animals into loving homes.  “This commitment from the City is an important and critical step in addressing the needs of both the animals and the people in our community,” says Nicholas Gilman, Executive Director of Montreal’s SPCA.  “We look forward to working with the City in helping to shape solutions to overpopulation and stray and homeless animals.”
