A hen escapes and finds shelter at the SPCA

This morning, the Montreal SPCA received a call from a supermarket. While receiving a delivery of eggs, its employees discovered that a hen had managed to get onto the truck. It is unclear how this incident could have occurred. Our team rushed to the location and brought the chicken to the shelter to be examined by our veterinarians.

The hen, named Beatrice by our team, was suffering from dehydration and her feathers were covered with excrement.

Beatrice received emergency care and her condition appears to have stabilized. A sanctuary is eager to take her in shortly.
