At the Montreal SPCA, we do everything we can to meet the needs of our “guests,” whatever their species or background. One way we do this is by improving our facilities so that they are in line with the latest knowledge on animal welfare. While our dogs are enjoying new kennels that keep their stress to a minimum, the cats will soon be reaping the benefits of our recently updated adoption room. It now includes a “cat condo,” a state-of-the-art new space designed for our feline friends with particular care needs.
A spacious, safe environment
The condo will greatly improve the comfort of the cats staying at the SPCA. Just imagine—it’s like moving from an efficiency apartment to a freshly renovated two-bedroom place!
This spacious facility is equipped with tempered-glass dividers, making it easy to clean and reducing the risk of spreading germs. It is securely fitted with a double-closure system so that no one can sneak out. And thanks to the condo’s different levels, the cats can practice their climbing skills and get a good view of their surroundings, which helps them feel safe.
An adapted space
This new environment will also benefit cats with particular needs. For example, those with a lot of energy and those carrying excess bodyweight will be more comfortable in the adapted space.
It also allows us to keep feline pairs together, such as these two tomcats who were brought in recently. At 13 years old, they have never been apart. Thanks to this new facility, they won’t have to go through the stress of being separated on top of having been abandoned. Plus, they can find a loving family willing to adopt them together!
The condo is an altogether welcome addition to our cat adoption room. We are thrilled to offer this upgrade to our “special guests” and to give them the best stay possible at the Montreal SPCA. Soon, we hope to add a second condo—a double, this time! Keep an eye out for more news.
