Linus was found lying on the ground, emaciated and unable to get up.
His backstory is still unclear, but several members of our veterinary team believe it to be the most dramatic case of emaciation they have ever seen in an animal throughout their careers.
Donate now to help animals in a critical condition like Linus.

It’s not uncommon for us to receive animals in terrible condition following reports and investigations, or as part of our daily shelter operations. These are the cases that place the greatest demand on our resources. Every minute counts for these animals in distress, and the dedicated care we provide plays a major role in their chances of survival.
Linus’s future is still uncertain, but his condition seems to be slowly improving. He is currently receiving intensive care in our clinic so he can get back on his feet. This sweet and gentle dog is showing remarkable courage and a strong will to live.
Linus not only deserves compassionate care, but also for the truth to come out about the circumstances that led to the heartbreaking state in which he was found.
Investigations Division: rescuing animals in distress
The Investigation Division of the Montreal SPCA is mandated to enforce laws that protect animals. Its interventions in cases of criminal offenses are supported by the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ).
However, it is thanks to public donations that the SPCA is able to support the Investigation Division’s activities related to the enforcement of the Criminal Code—specifically in cases of cruelty or severe neglect. That’s why we need your help to care for animals who are victims of violence and to ensure that thorough investigations are carried out.
