Émilie was found in a park in Montréal by a passerby. No more than two years old, she was lying on the grass, weak and trembling. She had no collar. She was quickly brought to the Montreal SPCA for our team to take care of her.
Once she got here, our team of veterinarians soon discovered the problem: Émilie was trying to give birth, but her deceased fetus was stuck. This painful situation, called dystocia, is very common in this breed of dog, whose heads are large compared to their pelvis.
The dog needed emergency surgery, or her life would be in danger. The whole veterinarian team acted quickly to intervene to save Émilie.
Today, not only is Émilie is out of danger, she has also found her forever home. This is thanks to the team’s reactivity in an emergency, but also thanks to you. Without access to emergency funds, we wouldn’t have been able to act so quickly.
