YOU WANT TO DO MORE FOR ANIMALS?

Let’s make animal protection an essential electoral issue!

View our very first toolkit to navigate the October 3 provincial elections and actively participate in changing laws and regulations that protect animals. The electoral period is a unique opportunity to obtain political commitments, to raise awareness and to create new political allies to support the animal cause.

During the 2022 provincial election campaign, the Montreal SPCA held the first-ever provincial electoral debate on animal protection. Here is an overview of the parties’ commitments.

Our political representatives are the voice of citizens who elected them. They have the power to vote on proposed legislation and change the way we regulate animal treatment in a durable manner. However, it’s essential to remind them that these issues are important to citizens.

The more our political representatives are informed and aware of these issues concerning animals through different sources, the stronger their motivation to contribute to better animal protection is!

Let’s do this!

1. First of all, prepare to speak of animal protection with party representatives who communicate with you during the campaign, and personally and directly communicate with the provincial election candidates in your riding. Animals are counting on you!

Read our document to properly prepare for your talk with your political representatives and find candidates’ contact information: :  Speaking on behalf of animals – 2022 provincial elections (printable PDF)

— Learn more about the three priority issues identified by the Montreal SPCA for the 2022 provincial elections so we can can speak out about them in unison during this electoral period:

— Do more! What are your priorities in terms of animal protection? What important issue would you directly like to participate in improving? Get ready to speak of these issues with your candidates by viewing our complete document on Reform propositions regarding animal protection on a provincial level (printable PDF, available only in French)

2. Then, make sure you participated in our three current actions:

4. If a sustainable food transition which aims to increase plant-based food consumption is important to you, you can reach out to our partners in the Coalition for a Sustainable Food Transition on their Facebook page or by email at info@transitionalimentairedurable.ca
