A new examination room will make all the difference

Your donation will be matched, but not for long!

February 3 to 9 only

Every day, our veterinary team examines about 63 animals—a necessary first step on the road to adoption. The sooner our residents are examined, the sooner they can leave the shelter for a loving home.

But, with the ever-increasing admissions to the shelter in recent years, the limited number of available examination rooms has created a backlog that slows down the animals’ progress through the system. We are in urgent need of a new examination room!Coinciding with our plan to expand our veterinary services for low-income families, this examination room will be the first step of this initiative, which is much needed in our community.

Since the Canada Post strike disrupted our most recent fundraiser, a generous SPCA donor offered to match donations for one week only to enable us to fund a new examination room at the shelter.

Don’t miss this opportunity to double the impact of your donation now through February 9 only! By helping us build the new examination room, you’ll enable us to find families for our animals more quickly.

The Government of Canada announced that all gifts made between now and February 28 will exceptionally be eligible for tax receipts for 2024.

Gargamel

When he arrived at the shelter, Gargamel only needed to be examined, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered to be put up for adoption. Friendly and healthy, this sweet cat was sure to be adopted quickly. In theory, animals like Gargamel should only stay in the shelter for a short time. But the reality? Our limited resources complicate matters.

A new examination room will enable us to shorten the animals’ shelter stay. A shelter stay is extremely stressful for animals and so weakens their immune systems. That is why we must do everything in our power to get them into their new homes quickly.

The number of abandoned and stray animals is on the rise, and shelters throughout Quebec are overflowing. The increase in admissions has been particularly noticeable at the Montreal SPCA, the largest shelter in the province. Last year, over 13,000 animals came through our doors!

Would you help us fund a new veterinary examination room to make our animals’ shelter stay as easy and short as possible?

Exceptionally, now through February 9 only, all donations will be matched by a generous donor! ❤️
